Paolo Bertolucci is at Wimbledon, commenting on Sky on the matches of this second week of the tournament and is a valuable interlocutor in view of the semifinals and to take stock of the situation. The chat can only start with Sinner, who had the fans worried in the match with Dimitrov because of that fall, the pain in his elbow and a quantity of errors - especially with his forehand - not like him.
Jannik yesterday, against Shelton, was flawless and reassured us: he looked like his old self.
I was actually commenting on Cobolli's game, but he said he was fine, and after all, if he took the field, it meant he was sure he could perform, if not optimally, then almost. Because at these levels, if you're not well, you go home: those of the first two rounds you beat even if you're lame, these ones you don't.
In fact, Shelton said that he had never seen anything like it, referring to Jannik's ball speed. He said he had never seen anything like it.
He should be used to it, he had seen it before, he had lost three sets to nil if I'm not mistaken last year too, and at last year's Australian Open: either he has forgotten, or in fact Sinner is pulling harder.
