BMW Italia steps up its electric push: up 46 per cent. Mini sees strong growth and BMW Motorrad leads the sales charts
The group registered 68,001 cars, representing a 2.2 per cent increase compared with the first nine months of last year, whilst also confirming its leadership in the premium segments in Italia.
BMW recorded 54,622 registrations in the first nine months of 2026, a figure stable compared with last year (-1.3%), maintaining a 28.1 per cent share of the premium segment, confirming its leading role in the Italian premium market. Mini’s result is particularly significant: with 13,379 units sold, it recorded growth of 19.5% compared with last year, confirming the Italian public’s appreciation of the brand.
The successful launch of the iX3 – the first model in the Neue Klasse to reach 100,000 orders worldwide – is also boosting sales of the BMW range in Italia.
Electric mobility on the rise: +42%
BMW Motorrad continues to demonstrate the strength of its position in the Italian motorbike market. In the first nine months of 2026, the brand sold 12,850 units, maintaining its leadership in the premium segment and in the over-750cc segment.
As regards electrification, in the first nine months of the year, registrations of electric cars from the BMW and MINI brands totalled 6,605 units sold, up 26.5 per cent compared with 2025, accounting for 27.4 per cent of the premium electric car market. This will enable the company to address market developments with a longer-term vision.
A successful technology strategy
The BMW brand also posted impressive results, registering 5,067 electric cars – a 42.0 per cent increase compared with the first nine months of last year. In the plug-in hybrid car market too, BMW maintains a leading position, having sold 9,248 PHEVs, accounting for a 32.4 per cent share of the premium sector. This result confirms the market’s appreciation for the Munich-based manufacturer’s electric range and the validity of a strategy that combines technological innovation with sustainability. The growth in sales of BMW’s electric vehicles is a very encouraging sign.
