Lake Vico: Luigi Cavallari’s body has been recovered by State Police divers from a depth of 18 metres
Specialist teams have located the body of the engineer who had been missing since 27 June, using advanced technology to overcome the environmental challenges posed by the lake.
The body of Luigi Cavallari, husband of Eugenia Roccella, Minister for the Family, Nativity and Equal Opportunities, has been found. He had been missing since 27 June in the waters of Lake Vico, in the province of Viterbo. The body was discovered this morning.
At a depth of 18 metres
The body was recovered from a depth of around 18 metres by divers from the State Police. The search operation, coordinated by the Prefecture of Viterbo, was never suspended.
They have continued unabated since the day Minister Roccella’s husband went missing on 27 June, after going for a swim in the lake.
The search operations also involved fire service diving teams from across Italia, alongside jet skis and the Viterbo water rescue service, the TASS unit (a specialist unit that uses geographical data and mapping) and drones.
The muddy seabed has been continuously surveyed, including with the aid of state-of-the-art technology such as sonar and robots.
