Carlo Sainz Senior could not resist and on the occasion of the Italian Grand Prix, in which his son is competing in the Ferrari colours, he decided to visit Brembo's Kilometro Rosso to discover the evolution and secrets that over the years have led to the development of high-performance calipers and systems used in all the major championships.
Discovering the history and evolution of Brembo in an exhibition
Accompanied by Brembo's Top Management, Spanish multiple champion Sainz was able to immerse himself in the company's history and innovation by visiting 'The Art of Braking', a private multimedia exhibition that can be accessed by invitation. This tells the story of Brembo's entrepreneurial adventure through history, design, innovation and sustainability. There was also time to explore Sensify, the braking system of the future for road cars in which artificial intelligence and software play an active role.
The visit to the Racing Department
.Afterwards, the visit continued to Curno (BG), in the Racing Department. Here, Sainz had the opportunity to discover how the brakes of Formula One single-seaters, rally cars and major two- and four-wheel motorsport competitions are designed, customised and developed. An exhibition of the most iconic braking systems was on display: from the calipers and discs that Brembo supplies today in Formula One and MotoGP, to the Brake by Wire for Formula E's Gen3s, passing through the complete braking system with which Carlos Sainz triumphed at the Dakar 2024, to the 1999 WRC World Championship caliper, a caliper that, at the time, was water-cooled, a specific feature of the calipers designed for rallies at the time. Sainz lingered with Brembo Racing engineers and staff for a moment of discussion and sharing, demonstrating a growing desire for constant improvement and learning on both sides. At the end of the visit, Sainz was presented with a commemorative trophy bearing the Brembo caliper that supplied the Audi RS Q e-tron winner at Dakar 2024, the fourth in the Spanish driver's career.
