BYD, record sales in August: hybrid cars on the rise
Chinese group surpasses 370,000 cars sold in one month: +30% compared to last year. In August, BYD set a new sales record, up 30% year-on-year. Hybrid cars accounted for the majority of sales, up 48% compared to electric cars. In contrast, other start-ups in the sector recorded a drop in deliveries.

August was a record August for BYD. The Chinese electric car giant sold a record number of passenger vehicles last month, with hybrid car registrations growing faster than battery car registrations.
The company said that August sales increased by 30 per cent year-on-year to 370,854 cars: sales of battery-powered cars increased by almost 12 per cent, while sales of hybrid vehicles grew by 48 per cent, accounting for just under two-thirds of BYD cars sold last month.
The competitors
.In contrast to BYD , several new energy vehicle start-ups recorded a drop in deliveries last month. Li Auto, best known for its range-extender vehicles, recorded 48,122 deliveries in August, down from a record 51,000 in July.
Aito, which uses Huawei technology, reported that it delivered 31,216 cars last month, down more than 10,000 vehicles from the previous month, while Nio reported that it delivered 20,176 cars in August, down slightly from July, but exceeding 20,000 units for the fourth consecutive month.
Sales outside China
.Returning to BYD, the Chinese group said it sold 31,451 cars abroad last month, bringing its total for the year to 264,869 units and exceeding the 242,765 cars sold abroad for the whole of last year.
