One of the two vans of the A Childhood to Live association burnt down to stop their activities for legality will be turned into a radio station for teenagers in October 2021. 15 September 2025 will be the first day of school and from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Radioimmaginaria, the radio for teenagers, together with the association Un'infanzia da vivere will organise at the Parco Verde di Caivano a radio-marathon against school drop-out, which in this area has one of the highest rates in Italy.
"In a suburban neighbourhood like ours, it is difficult to make people understand that school is important for their future," explains Bruno Mazza, contact person of Un infanzia da vivere, an association founded in 2008 to offer children and adolescents concrete alternatives to degradation and organised crime. "At Parco Verde, 80% of the girls and boys have only the fifth grade. I was also like them, then at 18 when I entered prison thanks to the school I experienced my freedom'.
The burnt bus becomes an editorial office
It was from this need that Radioimmaginaria's speakers came up with the idea of starting the new season of Ti accompagnagno a scuola, the programme that narrates the students' home-school journey, right from Parco Verde.
The focus on this day will be on the radio bus, and this is what the boys remember: 'Until then it had allowed us to have new experiences going outside the neighbourhood, like going to the seaside for the first time or seeing a Napoli match at the stadium, it will be nice to see it revived with the radio'.
The project for the Parco Verde envisages the establishment of a Radioimmaginaria editorial office in Caivano, the radio station for adolescents aged 10 to 17 years, which has more than 20 editorial offices and correspondents all over Italy.
