Army Corps General of the Carabinieri Nicola Massimo Masciulli has taken up the post of Director of the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate. He succeeds General Michele Carbone of the Guardia di Finanza (whose term of office ended in April 2026).
The course of study
The officer, who attended the ‘Nunziatella’ Military Academy and the Military Academy of Modena, holds a law degree from “La Sapienza” University in Rome and has Master’s degrees in “Strategic and Military International Studies” and in “Strategic Sciences”; and is a graduate of the Joint Staff College.
Positions within the Force
He has held prestigious command posts within the territorial organisation of the Carabinieri, including Commander of the Companies in Lecce and Rome-St Peter’s, of the Provincial Command in Venice and of the Tuscan Legion.
Within the General Staff of the Carabinieri General Command, he held the posts of Head of the Legislation Office, Head of the General Personnel Conditions Office, Data Protection Officer, Head of the ‘Finance’ Division and Head of the Department for Health and Veterinary Organisation.
He was head of Minister Crosetto’s Legislative Office
He served at the Defence General Staff, as a representative of the Carabinieri, on the ‘Steering Committee for the implementation of the new defence model, derived from the White Paper on International Security and Defence’. He served as Head of the Legislative Office of the Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto.
