Fuel prices continue to rise, with diesel approaching 2.5 euros on the motorway

Further rises in fuel prices, both on local roads and on motorways. The Ministry of Enterprise and Made in Italy has announced that, according to the latest figures from the Mimit Fuel Price Observatory, today, Sunday 27 September 2026, the average price of self-service fuel across the national road network stands at 2.159 euros per litre for petrol (up from 2.158 yesterday) and 2.377 euros per litre for diesel (up from 2.357 yesterday). On the motorway network, diesel is edging ever closer to 2.5 euros per litre: the average self-service price is 2.254 euros for petrol (up from 2.252 yesterday) and 2.459 euros for diesel (up from 2.439 yesterday).
