Silvio Baldini: from his debut in Tuscany to leading the National Under-21 team, a career of promotions and awards
From the second category to the Azzurri bench, Baldini has led several Italian teams, winning promotions and the Panchina d'Oro for the Serie C, culminating in the role of interim coach of the senior national team.
Born in Massa, Tuscany, in September 1959, after a brief career as a footballer in a number of Tuscan amateur teams Silvio Baldini was the protagonist of a very long coaching career, which began at the age of just 26 at Bagnone, in 1984, the club where he had ended his career as an amateur footballer in the second category championship, and continued in his native Tuscany (Massese, Viareggio, Siena and Carrarese). As stated on the Figc. website
In the 1997-1998 season he sat on the bench of Chievo Verona, making his debut in Serie B.
Two years later, after moving from Brescia, he moved to Empoli, gaining promotion to Serie A at the end of the 2001-2002 season.
In the following years he sat on the benches of Palermo, Parma, Lecce and Catania and again Empoli in 2008-2009.
After ending his experience at Vicenza in 2011, he stepped away from football for six years before answering the call of Carrarese in 2017, where he will remain until April 2020.
