'We want to get back to producing a million vehicles a year with those who really want to invest in historic Italian excellence. If you want to sell cars on the international market by advertising them as Italian jewels then that car must be produced in Italy, that is the question we have to ask'. These were the words of Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the question time in the Chamber.

The statement triggered yet another distant exchange between the government and Stellantis. "Stellantis is strongly committed to Italy and has done so in recent years. The company has invested several billion euros in Italian activities for new products and production sites,' a spokesperson for Stellantis Italia pointed out narrowly, explaining that 'More than 63% of the vehicles produced last year in Stellantis' Italian plants were exported abroad, thus contributing to Italy's trade balance.
