Drones, Crosetto announces plan to protect Italian airports and infrastructure

"We are studying measures to secure not only airports but the whole of Italy. I don't see any threat to Italian airports in the short term, but in the plan we are studying there are all the infrastructures, which will have to be monitored and protected in the future, including airports. The plan exists, every day there is a step forward to make it effective'. Thus Defence Minister Guido Crosetto, from the Amari base in Estonia, on the subject of possible anti-drone plans for Italian airports.
Moscow wants to distract from war and bend Kiev
"I have the impression that what Russia is doing, more than a provocation to NATO, is a way to distract them from what they are doing in Ukraine, where they have significantly increased their attacks, because there is a Russian attempt, before winter arrives, to break Ukraine for good," Crosetto continues from the Estonian base in Amari, where an Italian contingent operates for the patrolling and air defence mission on the eastern front, particularly the Baltic.
NATO shows firmness, avoid escalation
"NATO must show firmness, but we must do everything so that there is no escalation. So I hope that no one has to react militarily, no one has to. We all need, if anything, to let the situation calm down and decrease what now seems to be a run-up to madness. We must not chase after Putin on a terrain on which he wants to drag us, but respond firmly, maintaining calm, rationality and having peace in Europe and Ukraine as our goal first and foremost at this time,' the defence minister concluded.
