Reforms in the Curia and Appointments

In 2025-26, the Pope also made the first important internal appointments: two heads of Dicastery, Monsignor Filippo Iannone, Prefect for Bishops and Monsignor Anthony Randazzo, Prefect for Legislative Texts; the new substitute for the Secretariat of State, Archbishop Paolo Rudelli, in place of Monsignor Edgar Peña Parra, appointed nuncio in Italia; the Prefect of the Papal Household, Petar Rajič. Then the Augustinian Father Edward Daniang Daleng, Vice Regent of the Prefecture of the Papal Household; Monsignor Anthony Onyemuche Ekpo, Assessor of the Secretariat of State) and the appointments of the Archbishops of New York, Ronald Hicks, and of Westminster, Charles Phillip Richard Moth. Between Motu propri, rescripts and chirographs, Leo XIV began the process of Vatican financial reform, removing the IOR's exclusive rights over investments and introducing a 'shared responsibility' with the APSA; he published the new Regulations of the Roman Curia; and promoted the welcoming of the differently abled into the Holy See's working community.
