Divestments and inflated price, how Nutanix software lands at the Viminale: the role of Telecom
Under scrutiny by the investigators are the purchase and resale transactions of the computer programme: several invoices that begin, unexpectedly, with the purchase of Nutanix by Telecom Italia spa, which just seven days later sells it with a margin of about 200,000 euro to Sferanet, which in turn resells it to Itd Solutions, collecting 1,174,255 euro. The Nutanix management software was bought and sold several times before ending up at Itd Solutions, the spa led by the entrepreneur Massimo Rossi, which, with the final sale to the Ministry of the Interior, cashes in at 20.6 million euro. An order obtained through the alleged corruption of the dynamic Viminale executive Amato Fusco, who in return manages to include Sferanet, of which he is a hidden partner, in the supply chain of the computer programme. More billings began, unexpectedly, with the purchase of Nutanix by Telecom Italia spa, which just seven days later sold it with a margin of about 200,000 euro to Sferanet, which in turn resold it to Itd Solutions, collecting 1,174,255 euro.
Philosophy of the Sogei investigation
The investigation is part of a broader investigation of Sogei by the Capitoline Public Prosecutor's Office and the Nucleo di polizia economico-finanziaria of the Guardia di finanza of Rome. According to deputy prosecutors Paolo Ielo and Giuseppe Cascini, Sferanet (linked to the Olidata group with former CEO Cristiano Rufini) is the cornerstone of Fusco's alleged corruption: his purchase and resale transaction is only a 'formal step', the investigators believe, to enrich his coffers by driving up the stock market price.
The various buying and selling steps have already been reconstructed, although further evidence is being sought from the analysis of a huge amount of documents seized in recent days by the Financial Police. The investigators are looking for further evidence of the bribery hypothesis, starting from an assumption: Nutanix went through three different sales - some very close to each other - before arriving at the Interior, which led to the inevitable increase in the final price, which went from EUR 15.5 million in the first purchase to EUR 20.6 million in the last sale to the Ministry. But above all, one wants to understand why Telecom Italia spa entered the operation as the first party to buy the software from Computer Gross (Nutanix's distributor) destined for the Viminale.
Screen operations
.According to the investigation documents filed so far, there is one fact: the suspects make every effort to ensure that Sferanet is essentially shielded. By rewinding the time tape of events, one can perceive how the suspects try in every way to prevent Sferanet from being the first company to buy software from Computer Gross. This detail emerges from an intercepted conversation of 5 March 2023 between Massimo Rossi and a person from Computer Gross who is not under investigation. The two talk about the imminent awarding of the tender, which will be obtained by Itd Solutions on 15 April 2024, and refer to alleged or vaunted agreements that there would have been with the Nutanix company of the same name, producer of the programme. According to the summary of the conversation, "Rossi says that Sferanet told Nutanix that he had found a solution that Rossi thought might be 'putting someone in between you and him'".
