Back in Paestum, from 30 May to 1 June, the Dmed - Salone della Dieta Mediterranea (Mediterranean Diet Exhibition), now in its fourth edition and by now established as the main national forum dedicated to promoting the Unesco heritage of the Mediterranean Diet. Conceived by the Edamus Consortium, Dmed will be held in the spaces of the Next - Nuova Esposizione Ex Tabacchificio and will involve more than 300 guests including scholars, chefs, popularisers, institutions and artists.
The 2025 edition will focus on a strong intertwining of science, culture and local communities, with talks, workshops, cooking shows and in-depth scientific studies by universities and research organisations. Special guests will be Maria Grazia Cucinotta, the Manetti Bros, Debora Caprioglio, Sal De Riso, Peppe Guida and numerous talents from the food and media world. Among the novelties, the Dmed Award, an acknowledgement to personalities who have contributed to the enhancement of the Mediterranean model, such as Ermete Realacci and Claudio Gubitosi.
The productive heart of the event will be an exhibition area with about one hundred stands, 20 of which by the municipalities that are members of Borghi Autentici d'Italia, representing 12 territories. Institutional participation is also extensive: 20 exhibitors with the Campania Region, 5 with the Cilento National Park, and 3 with the Sicilian Region. These are joined by producer organisations representing hundreds of Italian agricultural realities, including Terra Orti, Aoa, Amico Bio, La Deliziosa, Assofruit, Aromadomus, and Coldiretti with its producers.
In 2024, the DMED recorded about 20 thousand attendees and over 100 events in three days, with 76% of the audience made up of consumers, confirming the growing attention of the public towards the themes of sustainability and wellbeing linked to food. The 2025 edition thus presents itself as a true permanent laboratory on the future of the Mediterranean Diet, in line with the 5Ps of the 2030 Agenda: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership.
