DMed: The Mediterranean Diet Fair returns to Naples (in the spirit of peace)
From 11 to 13 June at the Stazione Marittima, the event that brings together the sector’s supply chain with international buyers
Three days dedicated to food, culture and wellbeing, with a particular focus on the theme of peace, which is highlighted as a cross-cutting issue for the food supply chain as well. This is the theme of the fifth edition of DMed, the Mediterranean Diet Exhibition, scheduled to take place at the Stazione Marittima in Naples from 11 to 13 June. A meeting place for institutions, businesses, the research community and industry professionals, organised by the Edamus Consortium, which brings together Italian food producers and agri-food organisations. The aim is to encourage discussion on development models linked to the Mediterranean diet, recognised by UNESCO as intangible cultural heritage, and to promote Italian produce in an international context, thanks to the presence of European and Asian buyers.
The programme includes conferences, workshops and B2B meetings spread over the three days. Key events include a discussion organised by Borghi Autentici d’Italia and the conference of the National Council of Food Districts, dedicated to new models in the agri-food sector. There will also be a focus on traditional agri-food products from Campania, with in-depth sessions aimed at industry professionals and the general public.
Alongside the official meetings, plenty of time is set aside for hands-on activities. The cooking programme features chefs and catering professionals, with demonstrations and talks taking place on 11, 12 and 13 June. Participants include, amongst others, Cristina Bowerman, Michele De Blasio, Cristiano Tomei and master pastry chef Sal De Riso, alongside other leading figures in contemporary Italian cuisine.
Saturday 13 June features some of the most eagerly awaited events. The programme includes a focus on solidarity and peace, with a cooking show organised by the ’A Voce d’ ’e Creature Foundation. Also on Saturday 13 June, at 6 pm, there will be a talk Staying Young: A User’s Guide, dedicated to prevention and healthy lifestyles, featuring experts from the medical and scientific fields.
The programme of events also includes the inaugural DOP and IGP Festival, which brings together various protection consortia, and the national final of the Handmade Pasta Championship, accompanied by educational sessions and demonstrations.
