Dongfeng, the Wuhan-based Chinese brand has been distributing a complete range of vehicles in Italy since May this year. Many of which include previews of two of its flagship brands, namely MHero and Box, which are on display at the 2025 edition of the Turin Auto Show. Both are due to arrive on the Italian market in the coming months, reaffirming the brand's focus on our market, one of the most interesting for the development of the Chinese brand in the Old Continent.

The top-of-the-range MHero 817 for off-road

.

The MHero 817 joins the MHero 1 in the brand's range, albeit with unique features in terms of power and versatility. Over 5.1 metres long, 1.99 metres wide and 1.89 metres high, with a wheelbase of just over 3 metres and a weight of three tonnes, the new MHero 817 has ideal characteristics for off-road use, thanks to the use of air suspension that varies the ground clearance from a base of 33.5 to 38.5 cm, steered rear wheels and angles of attack of 33° and 34°.

200 km range extender in electric

.

The muscular design of the new MHero is matched by a significant powertrain, based on a 1,500 cc turbo petrol engine, also used as a generator, but not connected to the wheels, and two electric motors for a total output of 912 hp and 1,280 Nm of torque. Values that allow acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds. The CATL's 31.7 kWh battery ensures an electric range of over 200 km and about 1,000 km overall.

Luxurious cabin and technological features

.

On the inside, the new MHero 817 offers a luxurious interior and high-level technological equipment. The dashboard features a 15.6-inch high-resolution central screen for infotainment that makes use of, among other things, the Hauwei HarmonyOS Cockpit 5.0 system. For charging smartphones, there are two pads of 50 W each, equipped with cooling and flanking the knob for selecting driving modes. The new SUV is equipped with a suite of Adas and automatic parking.

Box, the stylish yet agile and brilliant citycar

Built on the Quantum Architecture S3 platform for electrics and hybrids, the Box is Dongfeng's benchmark for urban mobility. Elegant and technological, it is 4.020 metres long. The drive system is based on a 95 hp electric unit that allows a speed of 140 km/h for a combined consumption of just 14.1 kW per 100 km. It is available in two different trims, the Style Edition for 230 km and city use and the Premium Edition for 310 km ideal for long-haul driving.

State-of-the-art interior for five passengers

.

The wraparound dashboard offers a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster and a 12-inch high-resolution central infotainment touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity and customisable graphic interfaces. Recharging smartphones is provided by an ultra-fast 50 W wireless device located on the suspended centre armrest that leaves space underneath to store both bags and small items. Added to this is a lighting system in 32 colours to choose from.

Everything standard and prices from 21,500 to 25,000 euro

.

The Box comes with comprehensive standard equipment that includes over-the-air software updates, LED lights, bi-zone climate control and on the Premium Edition version electric driver's seat adjustment, as well as 17-inch alloy wheels. And here we come to the already official list prices that start at a base of 21,500 euros for the Style Edition trim and go up to a maximum of 25,000 euros for the top-of-the-range Premium Edition variant. To be considered that the Box is already on promotion with prices from 19,900 euro with state incentives.

The other new feature is the Mage L7 Full Hybrid

.

The new Dongfeng SUV has a length of 4.68 metres and features a new under-the-hood full hybrid powertrain based on a 1,500 cc four-cylinder petrol engine with a maximum output of 152 hp, plus a 136 hp electric motor for a total system output of 355 hp. The lithium iron phosphate battery is 17 kWh for a range of 110 km and 1,400 km total or 30.3 kWh for 205 km on electric and 1,500 km total. The Qualcomm Snapdrragon 8155 processor is also driven by the voice assistant with artificial intelligence.

Vigo the new Dongfeng electric crossover

.

Despite its small dimensions - it is in fact 4.306 metres long, 1.868 metres wide and 1.654 metres high - the new Vigo has a decidedly high level of interior roominess. The propulsion system, on the other hand, is based on a 163 hp electric unit and the CATL-derived Mach E battery, giving a total range of 417 km. With DC fast charging, 30% to 80% can be recovered in just 18 minutes. Inside, the instrumentation is all-digital as well as focusing on a basic 8.9-inch display and another 12.8-inch HD screen for multimedia.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity

.

Standard features on the new Vigo include driver's seat ventilation and a wireless smartphone charging platform. There is also a 360° panoramic camera, a panoramic glass roof, a driving mode selector, connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems and voice commands to activate the climate control and then the infotainment system. Finally, a complete suite of Adas integrated with the parking system is planned. The list price of the three previewed models has yet to be finalised. They will be as soon as possible.
