Dongfeng, the Wuhan-based Chinese brand has been distributing a complete range of vehicles in Italy since May this year. Many of which include previews of two of its flagship brands, namely MHero and Box, which are on display at the 2025 edition of the Turin Auto Show. Both are due to arrive on the Italian market in the coming months, reaffirming the brand's focus on our market, one of the most interesting for the development of the Chinese brand in the Old Continent.
The top-of-the-range MHero 817 for off-road
.The MHero 817 joins the MHero 1 in the brand's range, albeit with unique features in terms of power and versatility. Over 5.1 metres long, 1.99 metres wide and 1.89 metres high, with a wheelbase of just over 3 metres and a weight of three tonnes, the new MHero 817 has ideal characteristics for off-road use, thanks to the use of air suspension that varies the ground clearance from a base of 33.5 to 38.5 cm, steered rear wheels and angles of attack of 33° and 34°.
200 km range extender in electric
.The muscular design of the new MHero is matched by a significant powertrain, based on a 1,500 cc turbo petrol engine, also used as a generator, but not connected to the wheels, and two electric motors for a total output of 912 hp and 1,280 Nm of torque. Values that allow acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.2 seconds. The CATL's 31.7 kWh battery ensures an electric range of over 200 km and about 1,000 km overall.
Luxurious cabin and technological features
.On the inside, the new MHero 817 offers a luxurious interior and high-level technological equipment. The dashboard features a 15.6-inch high-resolution central screen for infotainment that makes use of, among other things, the Hauwei HarmonyOS Cockpit 5.0 system. For charging smartphones, there are two pads of 50 W each, equipped with cooling and flanking the knob for selecting driving modes. The new SUV is equipped with a suite of Adas and automatic parking.
Box, the stylish yet agile and brilliant citycar
Built on the Quantum Architecture S3 platform for electrics and hybrids, the Box is Dongfeng's benchmark for urban mobility. Elegant and technological, it is 4.020 metres long. The drive system is based on a 95 hp electric unit that allows a speed of 140 km/h for a combined consumption of just 14.1 kW per 100 km. It is available in two different trims, the Style Edition for 230 km and city use and the Premium Edition for 310 km ideal for long-haul driving.
