Dream Track is a suite of experimental tools that allows creators to generate original music for their shorts. YouTube is testing this new artificial intelligence-based feature that allows creators to edit licensed songs for their short videos. A small group of users have already had access to this experiment which allows, as The Verge writes, users to enter a text in a chat window to edit different aspects of a song, including the genre, and get a reworked, 30-second-long song. It is currently unclear which songs are available for 'remix' and which music labels YouTube is collaborating with.

In June, the Financial Times had reported that the giant, part of the Alphabet group that also includes Google, was in contact with several majors to use their songs in the training of artificial intelligence models. The feature could be the result of partnerships. "The reworked soundtracks will have a clear attribution to the original song through the short itself and will clearly indicate that the track was reworked with artificial intelligence," reads a short note published by YouTube. Creators participating in the test can enter a text prompt to describe how they wish to edit the song. YouTube's AI will process the request and create a new 30-second version of the song, adapted to the specification. For The Verge, the novelty could open up new possibilities for the use of AI in music, experimenting with combining new genres and styles of music.
