MP Emanuele Pozzolo’s driving licence suspended for a year following an accident on 2 June
The MP had been given a breathalyser test, which showed his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
Emanuele Pozzolo, the MP who, in early June, veered off the road of his own accord whilst driving on the Biella–Cossato motorway and emerged unscathed, has had his driving licence suspended for one year.
This is the order issued by the Prefecture of Biella, which has doubled the minimum six-month suspension provided for. The news, first reported by the local edition of the daily newspaper *La Stampa*, has been confirmed to ANSA by reliable sources. The MP had tested positive, exceeding the legal limit, in a breathalyser test.
Pozzolo, who has a house in Campiglia Cervo (Biella), will also have to undergo an examination by the medical committee.
The MP had explained that he had got behind the wheel after lunch and that a storm had caused him to veer off the road.
The MP from Vercelli, formerly of Fdi – who has now joined Futuro Nazionale via Roberto Vannacci – was sentenced last October at first instance to one year and three months’ imprisonment for the unlawful carrying of weapons, in connection with the incident that took place on New Year’s Eve the previous year.
