Ducati Superleggera V4 Centenario, limited edition with MotoGP solutions
First road bike in the world to mount a braking system with carbon ceramic discs and a fork with carbon fibre stanchions
Key points
Ducati celebrates its centenary with the Superleggera V4 Centenario, the most extreme homologated motorbike ever made by the Borgo Panigale company. Produced in only 500 numbered examples, it was created with the aim of overcoming all design limits, transforming racing solutions into a homologated product for the road. Based on the seventh generation Ducati Superbike, the Centenario introduces never-before-seen technical content. In fact, it is the first road bike in the world to mount a braking system with carbon ceramic discs and a fork with carbon fibre sheaths, solutions derived directly from MotoGP. The entire chassis architecture - frame, swingarm, stanchions and wheels - is made of carbon fibre, with a manic work of lightening that brings the weight to 173 kg dry, reduced to 167 kg with the racing kit included.
New Ducati Superleggera V4 Centenario
The heart of the project is the new Desmosedici Stradale R 1100, a specific evolution for this model. The displacement grows to 1,103 cc thanks to an increase in stroke, improving mid-range delivery without compromising the elongation. Power output reaches 228 hp, which becomes 247 with Akrapovič racing exhaust and track configuration, setting a record power-to-weight ratio of 1.48 hp/kg. The engine employs lightened components, titanium hardware and connecting rods, optimised pistons and a crankshaft with tungsten inserts to improve responsiveness and rpm rise. The chassis is one of the most advanced parts of the design. The carbon frame is 17% lighter than the Panigale V4, while the swingarm reduces weight by 21% while maintaining equivalent rigidity. The wheels and frames further contribute to the mass reduction, with direct benefits on agility and precision. Every component undergoes aerospace-grade non-destructive testing, a testament to the uncompromising engineering approach.
MotoGP-derived solutions
The MotoGP-derived Öhlins suspension marks another first: the pressurised Npx25/30 fork with carbon stays reduces weight and cavitation, improving braking support and sensitivity on entry. At the rear, the Ttx36 Gp Lw shock absorber uses racing solutions to guarantee maximum traction and absorption capacity. The Brembo braking system with carboceramic discs represents a revolution for road use: compared to steel discs, it offers the same level of power with a significant weight reduction and up to 40% lower inertia, improving handling and precision on corner entry. The monobloc calipers and antidrag system contribute to more stable and modular braking, even in the most extreme conditions.
Aerodynamics and Electronics
The high-efficiency wings and corner sidepods, derived from the Panigale V4 R Superbike, generate downforce even at high lean angles, creating a ground effect that increases grip and allows higher speeds. The all-carbon fairing, left partially exposed, underlines the technical nature of the bike, while the GP26 Rosso Centenario livery recalls Ducati tradition, reinterpreting it in a modern key. On the electronic front, the Superleggera V4 Centenario adopts an advanced suite derived from the Panigale V4 R, updated with state-of-the-art Dvo strategies. Traction, wheelie, drift and start-up controls are complemented by an advanced Engine Brake Control with Dynamic Engine Brake function, capable of automatically modulating engine braking and improving stability and trajectory on corner entry, bringing even less experienced riders closer to the dynamics of MotoGP.
Ducati Superleggera V4 Centenario Tricolore
Alongside the 500 standard units, Ducati is producing 100 Tricolore units, with a celebratory livery inspired by the 750 F1 Endurance bike of the 1980s, underlining the link between history and innovation. In addition, 26 customers will have access to the MotoGP Experience, experiencing a day on the track culminating with a ride on the DesmosediciGP26. To complete the dedicated positioning, each bike is delivered with a collector's package: personalised wooden case, certificate of authenticity, dedicated accessories and complete racing kit for track use.
