From Bregenz to Vienna: five stops between art, events and nature

3/6City Break

In Linz for electronic art festival and more

The capital city of Upper Austria has a history that is inextricably linked to its industrial vocation, but since 2009, when it was chosen as European Capital of Culture, it has transformed itself into an effervescent cultural centre that is also attractive for tourism. Since 2014, Linz has also joined the Unesco Creative Cities network as a 'City of Media Arts', hosting two prestigious events in this sphere each year, such as the Ars Eletronica Festival and the Prix Ars Electronica, and enriching its offer with museums and meeting spaces such as the Lentos Kunstmuseum and the Tabakfabrik, a former industrial building for creative industries. The Ars Electronica Center is the meeting point for a global network of artists, scientists, designers and activists and makes exhibitions, concerts and performances of various kinds accessible to all. The highlight is the Ars Electronica Festival, this year scheduled from 3 to 7 September and dedicated to the theme 'Panic - yes/no'.
