Enel: 50 per cent discount on electricity prices from April 2026. A2A: 50 per cent ten-year deals already available

Following the 30 per cent discount announced by Eni on electricity and gas charges compared with its main fixed-price tariff, with prices locked in for two years, other companies are also setting out their initiatives for households and businesses during this challenging period, caused primarily by the crisis in the Middle East.

Enel announces a 50 per cent discount on the price of electricity: “It is the lowest offer on the national market amongst the leading suppliers. For the average household (2 MWh per year), this represents a saving of 200 euros per year compared with the wholesale price”, according to a statement released by Enel. “Enel’s two-year fixed-price ‘Digital Luce’ tariff, at 108 euros/MWh for the energy component, is approximately 50 per cent lower than the wholesale market price”, even when taking into account the offers launched today by competitors.
The offer has been available on Enel’s website since April 2026. Furthermore: ‘Compared with the wholesale price for the average Italian household (which consumes 2 MWh a year), it guarantees a discount of over 200 euros a year on the electricity component alone. The electricity sold is certified by the Energy Services Operator (GSE) as coming from renewable sources.”

In response to the 2022 energy crisis – which has resurfaced in recent months – A2A has, since 2023, been offering domestic consumers a deal based on its portfolio of renewable energy plants, which allows them to lock in the price of that energy for 10 years. A2A Energia’s “Noi2” and NeN’s “10” offers feature fixed 10-year prices that are approximately 50 per cent lower than current average wholesale price levels. Already, 135,000 households have signed up to these offers, which have enabled significant savings in recent years. From March 2026 – concludes a statement from A2A – a similar solution will also be offered to SMEs.

“Clearly, it must be pointed out that everything the Italian government is doing is an appeal to the main economic players in Italia to lend a hand to households and businesses during this particularly challenging period.” This was the response from the Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, in Prague during a press conference with the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Andrej Babiš, when asked about the decision by some companies to cut the cost of energy bills. “What I can say is that I was very pleased with the uptake to the fuel initiative, first by Eni, then by IP and Kuwait, and for this I must thank the authorities in both Azerbaijan and Kuwait for the consideration they have shown towards Italy. “Today I see that this is extending to the issue of utility bills,” and “I hope the relevant parties will choose to lend a hand by responding to an appeal – addressed to everyone, of course – to do their best at a time of difficulty. So I am satisfied,” and “I thank everyone who is trying to make an effort,” adds Meloni.
