Few women

.

Despite the fact that the law provides for gender parity in the lists for the European elections (half of the candidates must be men and half women) and despite the triple gender preference (if two preferences are expressed, one must be a woman, and if three preferences are expressed, one can indicate either two men and one woman or two women and one man), only 32.9% of MEPs were elected. The parties with the largest share of women (50%) are the League and Alleanza Verdi Sinistra, while the smallest share is for Fratelli d'Italia (20.8%).
