Eurostat, September inflation up 2.2% p.a.

Consumer prices in the euro area rose by 2.2 per cent in September 2025 on an annual basis, up from 2 per cent in August. This is estimated by Eurostat, which is releasing its preliminary estimate today, which also shows that on a monthly basis inflation increased by +0.1 per cent. The figure is in line with the consensus, the average of analysts' forecasts.

"Looking at the main components of inflation in the euro area," says Eurostat, "services are expected to record the highest annual rate in September (3.2%, up from 3.1% in August), followed by food, alcohol and tobacco (3.0%, up from 3.2% in August), non-energy industrial goods (0.8%, stable compared to August) and energy (-0.4%, up from -2.0% in August).
