"A guide to tell 109 cooperative restaurants, stories of dishes and cuisine, of people and places, of traditions and communities, but also of re-employment, of redemption that becomes hope, work that becomes personal and economic development". So says Fabiola Di Loreto director general of Confcooperative presenting "Il Gusto della Cooperazione" the first guide to restaurants run by cooperatives promoted by Confcooperative FondoSviluppo and produced by the publisher Pecora Nera. Its guideline is 'tell me where you eat and I will tell you who you are'.
The restaurants are described in extensive cards in whichthe peculiarities and life stories behind them emerge, even before the gastronomic offer and all other useful information for the reader.
"The idea of a guide dedicated to cooperative-run restaurants was born out of the encounter over the years with the many realities that, in each region of Italy, have given life to places where eating is linked to the territory, to local communities, to typical productions and to projects of labour insertion and social emancipation - say Confcoop -. When you decide to eat in one of the many restaurants managed by a cooperative you are also prepared to listen to a story, to experience an emotion, to better understand a life project".
