Passengers bound for Fiumicino airport and in transit in Rome can check in and board their hold baggage from the commercial area of Termini station, and then collect it directly at their destination. The new Airport in the City service launched by Aeroporti di Roma is aimed for this first phase only at Ita Airways passengers departing from 'Leonardo da Vinci', who can carry out check-in operations free of charge, including check-in of hold baggage, on the day of their departure, and continue their visit to the Capital before their flight, free of their baggage and without having to use temporary storage facilities for a fee.
All destinations except the USA and Israel
.You must go at least three and a half hours before your flight's departure time, every day from Monday to Sunday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., to the desks located at the entrance of Via Giovanni Giolitti 16, near the Central Market and platform 24, from where the Leonardo Express - the non-stop service that connects the railway station to Fiumicino Airport in 32 minutes - departs every day, then your luggage can be collected directly at the baggage drop-off area at your final destination airport.
For the initial trial period, Airport in the City is exclusively dedicated to travellers with Ita Airways flights departing on the same day from 'Leonardo da Vinci' to any destination (except the USA and Israel). Other airlines may join this new service in the future.
There is also a focus on environmental sustainability, as luggage transfer is carried out with vans powered by sustainable fuel produced from 100 per cent renewable raw materials, to contribute to the decarbonisation of transport (Aeroporti di Roma in 2021 promoted the Pact for the Decarbonisation of Air Transport in partnership with leading institutions and companies in the sector).
An ad hoc flight booking platform
.Aeroporti di Roma is also launching 'Flyandvisitrome.com', a new flight booking platform to offer travellers from all over the world the possibility of purchasing airline tickets integrating the travel experience with the option of stopping over in Rome. A way to further attract tourist flows to Rome and Italy using the most advanced cross-route search tools of over 650 airlines. The booking service is provided by TripStack, a leading player in the sector with around 30 million customers a year.
