For the 2779th anniversary of the founding of Rome, celebrated on 21 April, Elon Musk has earmarked a new million dollars to support the archaeological and cultural heritage of the Roman civilisation. This was announced in a note by the US entrepreneur's staff.
Total disbursements
"With this donation, Elon Musk's total contribution in less than two years to the protection and study of ancient Rome's heritage rises to around $4 million. The resources have gone to those who work concretely in the field: archaeologists, restorers, study and research groups, universities and cultural institutions, in Italia and other countries of the Mediterranean basin once part of the Empire.
The destination
Funds supported excavations, conservation and restoration work, digital documentation projects - such as 3D scanning and mapping of monuments and sites - and specialised research activities.
