In France, July inflation rose to 2.1 per cent year-on-year, up 0.6 per cent month-on-month

(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - In July, the consumer price index in France rose by 2.1 per cent year-on-year, marking an acceleration from the 1.8 per cent recorded in June. Month-on-month, inflation rose by 0.6%.
The rise is driven by price increases for services and energy, particularly gas and oil, as explained by INSEE, the National Institute of Statistics.
According to this preliminary estimate, the harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) – which allows for comparisons between euro area countries – rose by 2.4 per cent year-on-year in July, compared with 2 per cent in June.
“This rise in inflation remains moderate, in line with the trend seen in the June figures, and comes against a backdrop of 0.2 per cent growth in the second quarter,” commented the Ministry of Finance.
