Health is the destination of a journey that starts with prevention, knowledge and the adoption of behaviours and habits that promote psychophysical wellbeing: a continuous journey of awareness, self-care and attention to others.

This is the key message of "Destinazione Salute", the event on prevention that the San Donato Group organised today in the spaces of the Umanitaria in Milan in collaboration with the 24 Ore Group and built around an articulated schedule, designed to spread health culture, where everyone was able to build a personalised pathway by choosing from the appointments proposed during the day following three main themes: heart, mind and sporting activity.

"Today we are realising our dream of organising and planning a major event on health and prevention, shared with an absolute excellence such as the San Donato Group. I would like to remind you that prevention means savings and, above all, growth and protection for our country's system," explained the CEO of the 24 Ore Group, Federico Silvestri, introducing the opening panel entitled "The healthcare of the future".

Democratising healthcare

"This event provides us with the opportunity to reaffirm an essential principle for our health: the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle, based on a correct diet and conscious physical and sporting activity. Our aim is to make available to the community the expertise of our professionals and all the latest-generation technologies needed to achieve physical and mental wellbeing, through personalised pathways based on individual needs," summarised Dr. Roberto Crugnola, Sole Director of the IRCCS Ospedale Galeazzi-Sant'Ambrogio in Milan, in his speech.

The Galeazzi-Sant'Ambrogio, located in MIND, between Rho and Milan, was built following the most modern criteria of innovation, both medical and engineering. "We are a multi-specialist facility and have always been an excellence in the fields of orthopaedics, cardiology and cardiac surgery," Crugnola commented.

"Thanks to the work of our health professionals and the use of the most advanced technologies, we have always been at the forefront in building customised pathways for heart health, from prenatal diagnosis to rehabilitation, from newborns to the elderly, starting with prevention. Destinazione Salute allows us to enhance our daily commitment, fully embodying our vision of health: close to people, based on prevention, driven by innovation and oriented towards sustainability," confirmed Dr. Sara Mariani, Sole Director of IRCCS Policlinico San Donato.

"In particular, we have a long history of excellence in the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Patients from all over Italy, Europe and North Africa come to us for treatment,' Mariani continued. "Another key aspect: we try to maintain a high level of equipment, continuously investing in technology and, more recently, in a new training centre for young doctors.

The importance of research

.

"Events like this, which create moments of confrontation between the medical-scientific world and citizens, bear witness to the San Donato Group's mission and commitment to making medicine and prevention accessible to all. Today, prevention, in particular, is a crucial issue not only for the wellbeing of the individual but also for the very sustainability of the Health System, and it is therefore our duty to contribute to creating a true culture of prevention also through scientific dissemination and by maximising the most innovative technologies available," continued Dr. Francesco Galli, Sole Director of the IRCCS Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan. He then used three words to define San Raffaele's own mission: 'Clinical activity, i.e. treating people, scientific research and academia, then teaching. These are the three historical pillars that we continue to develop, with the primary objective of reflecting them, in terms of repercussions, on the patient. To achieve this, we do research in all areas. In particular, some of the fronts in which we are investing are those of neuroscience, brain ageing, and innovative cancer drugs,' concluded Galli.
