Gaza, Tajani: Constitution's limits insurmountable for participation in Board of Peace
'In our conversation with Vance and Rubio yesterday we reaffirmed the good relations. And we reiterated what our position is," says the foreign minister
"We cannot participate in the Board of Peace because there is a constitutional limit. We are always willing to talk about peace initiatives, we are ready to do our part also in Gaza with police training. But on the Board of Peace, Article 11 of our Constitution is in contrast with Article 9 of the Statute: for us it is insurmountable from a legal point of view'. Thus the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, questioned by Ansa on the sidelines of the congress of the Radical Party in Rome. "Relations with the US,' he added, 'are very positive. In the conversation with Vance and Rubio yesterday we reiterated the good relations. And we reiterated what our position is'.
"I see no legal basis for appeal on the date"
"We believe . says Tajani - that no further appeals are needed. I do not see the legal basis, because the correction does not change the substance of the question. You would have to change a lot and do different things if there was a change in the substance of the question. But since the question is basically the same and it is only a formal addition, I think there is no reason for an appeal. Everyone can do what they want, but I don't see the legal basis for the appeal
