The Geely Starray Em-i presents itself as one of the segment's first plug-in hybrid SUVs conceived from the outset around a dedicated hybrid powertrain. At the heart of the system is the Em-i Super Hybrid architecture, which combines a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder internal combustion engine specifically optimised to maximise thermal efficiency with an electric motor driven by a dedicated 'E-Dht' hybrid transmission. The battery is an 18.4 kWh Lfp unit, which allows a diversified operating spectrum: 'Pure Electric' mode for quiet city driving, 'Hybrid' for automatic switching between electric motor and petrol, and 'Power' when performance is needed. In electric mode, the declared WLTP range is around 83 km; in combined hybrid + petrol mode, with a full tank of petrol, the theoretical range is close to 943 km.
