Generazione Terra: the ISMEA call for proposals has closed, with 256 applications totalling over 115 million
The results of the scheme designed to support generational renewal and the purchase of land to expand the areas of farms run by young people

When the online application portal closed on 19 June, 256 applications had been submitted for the Masaf-Ismea incentives aimed at generational succession and the purchase of land, with a total value of funding requests amounting to over 115 million euros, compared with the 80 million available in the previous round.
The largest proportion of applications relating to the “Generazione Terra”, amounting to 96.4 million, relate to the retention-of-title agreement, which allows young farmers to take immediate possession of the land, paying the price in regular instalments, with ownership transferred definitively upon completion of payment. By contrast, applications for mortgage-backed loans amount to 18.6 million.
These figures confirm, as ISMEA points out, the strong interest shown by young people in the scheme promoted as part of the Ministry of Agriculture’s initiatives to encourage the establishment of new agricultural entrepreneurs and support the expansion of the land base of farms run by young people. ‘The results of the helpdesk,’ notes a statement from the Institute, ‘confirm, once again, the willingness of the younger generations to invest in agriculture: both by launching new business ventures and by strengthening existing farms, thanks to the expansion of agricultural land and the support schemes made available by Ismea.”
Among the key new features of the measure is the increased focus on inland and mountainous areas, from which a total of 141 applications were received, accounting for over 55 per cent of the total received. The scheme thus reaffirms its role as a practical tool for combating the depopulation of these areas, promoting agricultural activity and contributing to the protection of the landscape and the environment. Now that the application submission phase has concluded, Ismea is proceeding to assess the admissibility of applications on the basis of the specified requirements and documentation. The preliminary assessment phase will then commence and will be completed within 90 days of the application window closing, in accordance with the timetable and procedures set out in the process.
