The image of the 54th edition of Giffoni, scheduled in Giffoni Valle Piana (Salerno), has been unveiled. From 19 to 28 July the illusion of distance will be the starting point of Giffoni, declined in all its forms, in all its spaces. An important theme for the more than 5,000 jurors from over 30 countries around the world, chosen to point out the dangers of the sense of isolation that creeps into the lives of the new generations with the fear of the other, of the different, of the distant, with the deception of feeling separated. Two silhouettes devoid of gender and ethnicity, suspended in a dreamlike field outside space and time, an ideal non-place where everyone can find themselves and which everyone can imagine: this is the main feature of the image of #Giffoni54, created by the union of ideas, creativity and sensitivity of a collective of eleven artists who, from 16 to 20 April, were guests of the first edition of Giffoni Shock.
The poster tells the simple story of people who drift apart, often ignore each other, forget each other, separate, but in the depths of the dark earth, immense as the sky, vast as the ocean, understand how their roots are inextricably linked. Despite the fact that often the directions taken are opposite, even conflicting, despite the fact that each path has potentially unprecedented implications, despite the miles of indifference, conflicts, misunderstandings and misinterpretations, the connection is inevitable. And this is the message that Giffoni is preparing to share, to exalt, to disseminate. The Giffoni Art Collective is a residential workshop composed of artists from all over Italy. A platform involving new generations in collaborative artistic activities within a centre of creativity and cultural transformation. Painters, illustrators, photographers, actors, musicians and composers, writers and digital artists have come together, and will continue to meet during the Festival, to realise artistic productions aimed at telling the story of Giffoni's themes and activities with an unprecedented language.
