'The completion of the path to implement fiscal federalism today is a particularly complex objective. This is not only because of the very nature of the process, which involves various levels of government, but above all because it is set in a context that has changed profoundly from the original one'. This was emphasised by the Minister of the Economy, Giancarlo Giorgetti, at a hearing before the Committee on Fiscal Federalism. 'The current economic, social and institutional framework is in fact marked by challenges and dynamics very different from the past, which require a flexible approach, capable of responding promptly to the country's needs'.
"Minister Calderoli and I are absolutely determined for the definition of these Lep. The issue of their coverage will then arise from time to time'. Thus Giorgetti, in a hearing at the Chamber of Deputies, replying to a question on the Essential Levels of Services, adding that it is a very delicate issue.
For Giorgetti, the collection of premises 'requires dedicated instruments'. It is in this sense fessential "a strategic rebalancing of the Revenue Agency also by evaluating a new body dedicated to the collection of local taxes, which could benefit from the economies of scale of the Revenue Agency, with an advanced IT structure.
'A thorough investigation is underway to allow municipalities to extend their financial autonomy'. This was said by Finance Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti at a hearing in the Chamber of Deputies on fiscal federalism. 'It is fundamental that autonomy be exercised in a transparent and accountable manner.'
