Global Compact, Italy's new additions to the UN network
From Zegna to Finarvedi, Fibercop and Sacmi: these are some of the 150 Italian companies to join the Global Compact Network Italy in 2025

From the health multinational Angelini to a brand like Ferrarelle: these are among the new companies that have joined the Global Compact Network Italia (Ungcn) in 2025. This is the UN Secretary-General's special initiative whose mandate is to lead and support the global business community in promoting the goals and values of the United Nations through responsible business practices. While there are more than 22,000 companies involved worldwide, in Italy the Foundation - which promotes the spread of good sustainability practices - has 791 participating companies, with a 150 plus in 2025. Founding members include, for example, Pirelli, Edison, Lavazza, Marcegaglia, Tim and Unicredit.
New entries
Other new entries include the luxury men's clothing brand Zegna and the holding company Finarvedi. And again FiberCop - the company active in the management and development of the fixed access network for telecommunications - and the Sacmi group, active in the design and supply of solutions for industrial plant engineering in the sectors of ceramics, packaging, advanced technologies and materials.
The 2025 report shows that large companies account for 33 per cent of new members while SMEs make up 67 per cent, confirming 'Ungcn's role as an inclusive and cross-sector platform'.
The most represented sectors include construction (17%), industry (11%), software and IT services (8%), chemicals (6%) and alternative energy (3%). In terms of size, organisations with annual revenues of less than USD 25 million (42%) and those with revenues between USD 50 million and USD 250 million (29%) prevail.
Total network data
Concerning the Italian network as a whole, out of the total 791 participants, large enterprises are 336 and thus 43% while SMEs are 397 and thus 50%. There are also 58 non-business organisations (7%).
