Gemini for Google Workspace gets a makeover, seven new languages, including Italian

Google is taking another decisive step towards the global accessibility of Gemini, its artificial intelligence assistant integrated into Workspace, its business and personal productivity suite. The company announced the expansion of language support, introducing seven new languages: German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, French and Italian. This update marks a significant step towards improving the productivity of more than one billion users who will be able to use Gemini's advanced artificial intelligence tools in their native language, integrated directly into the user experience of Gmail, Documents, Sheets and Drive.

New language capabilities enable teams to work more effectively in their preferred languages, whether writing texts, for social media, making summaries in Google Docs, responding quickly to emails in Gmail or gathering key information in Drive. For example, marketing teams can overcome creative block by asking Gemini to generate engaging texts for their campaigns, while salespeople can quickly prepare for meetings thanks to automatic summaries of complex documents. A valuable ally also for meetings that helps break down geographical barriers, thanks to automatically generated written translation in Google Meet and the (soon to be available) automatic message translation function in Google Chat.

Large companies such as Randstad and Devoteam have already appreciated the effectiveness of Gemini in English, while Brazilian company Natura emphasises the benefits of now being able to use AI in Spanish and Portuguese. As Renata Marques, CIO of Natura, says, Gemini is a key support for generating ideas and improving productivity: "With Gemini, I get support when I am faced with an empty Document or empty cells in a Sheet, because I can ask for help to generate ideas or create a spreadsheet template. It also helps me to ask analytical questions that I would never have thought of".
