BERLIN - - The Chinese group, owner of the Candy and Hoover brands and the world's leading vendor in the large household appliances segment, launches its attack on the vision of a 'naturally connected' home with people at its heart during a media briefing on the eve of the official opening of the 2025 edition of IFA. The key word of Haier's smart home proposal, as CEO Neil Tunstall also reiterated, is once again 'ecosystem', and therefore a combined set of devices and technologies (artificial intelligence obviously included) from which derive solutions designed to simplify the life of those who inhabit the domestic space, anticipating their needs and guaranteeing a fully customisable user experience. The heart and brain of this vision (with around one billion interactions processed to date) is the hOn app, which orchestrates the entire ecosystem, managing not only household appliances but also photovoltaic and air treatment systems. Over the years, the platform's development work, as Tunstall again emphasised, has borne fruit: there are in fact around 10 million users connected to hOn, and for the company, these 10 million active contacts are synonymous with data to get to know the consumer better and to give continuity to the product evolution process. The promise, also scenographically displayed at the stand set up at the fair, is therefore that of an ecosystem that saves time and energy consumption and at the same time facilitates a more intelligent relationship with the environment, in the wake of a strategy that has elected sustainability as the cornerstone of all company activities (60% of Haier Europe's energy supply will come from renewable sources this year) and that has recently embraced, as far as the Italian market is concerned, smart Tvs.
New products from Candy: small appliances make their debut
.For the historic 'Italian' washing machine brand, this year marks its 80th birthday, and the gift the company is showcasing at IFA is somewhat in line with a tradition that has always been devoted to the search for 'pioneering' solutions for washing and treating garments. The innovation that characterises the new Candy Multi Wash, in addition to the design component (with a front that recalls Mickey Mouse's stylised face), is a system of three independent baskets that allows - thanks to artificial intelligence - the washing of delicate clothes, baby underwear and sportswear at the same time but in a separate and personalised manner. Each with its own programme (manageable from the touch interface or app), its own temperature and respective duration. Completing Candy's offerings on display in Berlin are the ProWash 750 washing machine, also with an advanced user interface, and AirPro Wash technology to reduce consumption by injecting air into the water/detergent mix, the first range of small appliances under its own brand (consisting of air fryers toaster, kettle and immersion blender) and the solutions for the kitchen world, which includes the A-10 class PureWash dishwasher, the Bake 800 oven that can be controlled remotely with the hOn app and the fridges of the City Fresco line, with a colour palette celebrating the brand's 80-year history.
Hoover between electric brooms and smart robot vacuum cleaners
The main and most important novelty in the Hoover range is the HF6 Turbo Sense, a cordless electric broom equipped with the Floor Sensor brush, which automatically recognises the type of floor, adapting the power of the device to optimise suction both forwards and backwards. Also betting on the power factor (with peak performance of up to 20,000 Pascal) is the HW6 Ultra Clean cordless scrubber with triple-edge head equipped with LED lighting, while in the robot hoover segment the benchmark product is the HG8 Ultra Sense, which integrates an artificial intelligence navigation system capable of detecting dirt and automatically adapting cleaning room by room, with paths optimised thanks to 360-degree laser mapping. Finally, in the world of large household appliances, Hoover responded with the Series 7 previews, namely the Pro Wash washing machine with a pre-mixing system of water and detergent to combat even the most difficult stains, and the Pro Dry dryer. Both can be controlled directly from a smartphone via the hOn app, choosing from over 60 washing and 30 drying programmes.
Haier and the ecosystem of large AI-driven appliances
Advanced technologies but, above all, solutions created to ensure a totally customisable living experience: the intelligent home, this is the message Haier wants to convey through its products, is modelled on the user's lifestyle, maximising the quality of use of the appliance. In the gallery installed at IFA, the main space is dedicated to the refrigerators and refrigeration technologies of the new Horizon Collection family: the Hydro Hub of the Cube 90 platform, for example, offers direct access to water thanks to the water dispenser, while the Absolute Ice system, integrated in the door to free up space inside the cavity, produces ice cubes or crushed ice. On the washing and drying systems front, the featured novelty bears the name Next Generation, a range of products strongly characterised by the presence of artificial intelligence on board. In the washing machine, in particular, the AI Wash Sense function employs no less than nine sensors to optimise each wash, the AI Vision camera acts as a real guide for the user, and thanks to AI Washing Memory the machine learns habits and suggests ideal cycles. The breakthrough in terms of drying, on the other hand, is due to the combination of different technologies (Ultra Reverse Drum, Ultra Sense and the Flexy Air system) and AI-driven functions available on the hOn (such as decoding labels, scheduling eco mode operation and synchronisation between washer and dryer). Also on show in Berlin were the Haier Couture Care Collection, two particularly well-designed appliance lines including the Laundry Center column, which integrates washing and drying in just 1.6 metres, and Wardrobe, a technologically advanced wardrobe also connected to the hOn platform. In the space dedicated to the kitchen, Haier's recipe finds consistency starting with the new Steam ID 2 ovens, whose peculiarity lies in the intelligent management of humidity, made possible by a system of sensors that constantly monitor the temperature and steam level to adapt in real time to the type of food. Curious, finally, is the technological gem that identifies the I-Pro Shine dishwasher with Biovitae technology: the LED light with which it is equipped is capable of eliminating up to 99.99% of the bacteria present on the internal surfaces of the machine and on the dishes.
