Viral gastroenteritis on board: disembarkation ban partially lifted for 1,700 passengers in Bordeaux
The illness is of 'viral origin' - the health authorities specified - and has not resulted in any serious cases other than the 90-year-old who died
The French authorities have announced the partial end of the lockdwon for health reasons of the 1,700 passengers of a cruise ship that arrived yesterday morning in Bordeaux, south-west France:Tests have confirmed that the virus raging on board has nothing to do with hantavirus but that it is just a simple 'episode of gastroenteritis'.
The illness is of "viral origin", the health authorities specified, and did not result in any serious cases, apart from the 90-year-old who died.
As a result, "the disembarkation ban" imposed on the ship's passengers and crew after yesterday's arrival at dawn is "lifted" for "non-symptomatic" people. The sick will have to remain 'in isolation' until the end of their symptoms.
