Heart Week: free consultations at hospitals in the Bollino Rosa network
The Onda Foundation is organising the (H) Open Week on cardiovascular diseases from 28 September to 4 October 2026 across the more than 150 hospitals in its network

Cardiomyopathies are conditions that affect the heart muscle and which, in many cases, have a genetic origin and run in families. They can be diagnosed following the onset of symptoms, during routine medical check-ups or through dedicated screening programmes. To raise awareness of these conditions and promote cardiovascular prevention, to mark World Heart Day – celebrated annually on 29 September – the Onda Foundation is organising the (H) Open Week on cardiovascular diseases.
From 28 September to 4 October 2026, over 150 hospitals in the network bearing the ‘Bollino Rosa’ label will offer free specialist consultations, diagnostic tests, consultations with experts, informative events and resources on heart health, with the aim of promoting prevention, facilitating access to early diagnosis and raising awareness of cardiovascular diseases and the main risk factors.

The available services can be viewed on the Fondazione Onda ETS website via the dedicated search engine, which allows you to select a region and province and view the participating hospitals, the services offered, and the dates and procedures for accessing them.
“For over twenty years, the Onda ETS Foundation has been promoting a culture of prevention that takes sex and gender differences into account,” recalls Francesca Merzagora, president of the Onda ETS Foundation, “helping to bring cardiovascular health to the forefront of public, professional and institutional attention. “With this new edition of the (H) Open Week, we aim to offer a tangible opportunity to access services and, by focusing on cardiomyopathies, draw attention to conditions that can remain asymptomatic, have a familial origin and require timely diagnosis and specialist care.”
Over 206,000 deaths in 2023
In 2023, diseases of the circulatory system caused over 206,000 deaths in Italia, accounting for almost 31 per cent of all recorded deaths and remaining the leading cause of death in the country. Their impact is particularly significant amongst women: they account for 33 per cent of deaths amongst women, compared with 28 per cent amongst men.
