There is also an Italian institution among the five international universities to which the Indian Ministry of Education has handed over a letter of intent (Loi) to grant the possibility of delivering training courses directly in the Asian country.

Together with Aberdeen University, the University of York, the University of Western Australia and the Illinois Institute of Technology, the IED group also took part in the Loi Granting Ceremony organised by the Maharashtra government in Mumbai on Saturday 14 June, to receive the letter that will allow the European Institute of Design to organise and manage in India the First Level Academic Diploma (Dapl) courses accredited by the Ministry of University and Research in Italy, thus recognising their legal, educational and cultural value.

"More than 1 million students move from India to foreign countries to complete their studies, a figure that is growing, and only 33% return to the country," explained Francesco Gori, CEO IED Group. This is why the Indian government decided in December 2023 to allow foreign universities to open branches in India. Following its international vocation, the IED Group has seized this opportunity, including India among the countries of interest for its development plan'.

Ied is one of the largest private higher education networks in the creative field in Europe. Founded in 1966, it maintains a global vocation but a deeply Italian cultural matrix. Today it has 11 branches in three countries around the world: in Italy in Milan, Cagliari, Florence, Rome, Turin and with the Accademia di Belle Arti Aldo Galli in Como; in Spain in Barcelona, Bilbao and Madrid and in Brazil in Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.

The Ied 'community' is made up of more than 10 thousand students enrolled each year, of 100 different nationalities, more than 3 thousand faculty members and 100 thousand Alumni.
