In Liguria, campaign in the final rush, Meloni-Schlein duel. Voting on Sunday and Monday

It was a long-distance confrontation between Giorgia Meloni and Elly Schlein in Genoa. The centre-right and centre-left bigwigs faced each other in two rallies not far from each other as the crow flies to close the campaign for the regional elections on 27 and 28 October. Indoor rallies, since the bad weather is forcing everyone to seek sheltered places and not the square. With them, on one side Antonio Tajani, Matteo Salvini, Maurizio Lupi; on the other Giuseppe Conte, Angelo Bonelli and Nicola Fratoianni. Conte and Salvini have already beaten markets, streets, squares, headquarters of associations and federations as Schlein, Tajani, Fratoianni, Bonelli had also done in the past few days.

In particular, the M5S leader was in Imperia, where he confirmed that victory or defeat does not affect relationships with the PD: 'We are not opportunists, we have guarantees of transparency. We do not make our choices because they are dictated by the convenience of the moment. We have had guarantees of reliability, seriousness and maximum transparency in the government of the region from Andrea Orlando'. Then he recalled that his governments have financed so much infrastructure and that he signed the Morandi Decree.

Orlando, with a joke on 'Un giorno da pecora' (A day like a sheep) said he would win 51 to 47 and dedicated the song 'Arrivederci' to Bucci. Then with a video he asked voters: 'Aren't you tired of the arrogance of power? Aren't you worried about the collapse of public health? Aren't you disappointed by the promise of public works that were never realised, by the lack of care for the territory? We have an opportunity to turn this feeling into positive energy'.

Instead, Marco Bucci decided to 'give a wake-up call' to voters by inviting them to go and vote. "Dear Ligurians, voting on Sunday and Monday for the regional elections is crucial. With the vote of each one of us, we can choose to get to work right away and do the things we need to do by building our future and that of our children, or we can hand the destiny of Liguria back into the hands of a confused and divided alliance like that of the Burlando and Doria families who had led it into decline and dreariness. Let's wake up. And let's go and vote for the good of Liguria,' he wrote. With the Lega Nord deputy minister Edoardo Rixi Bucci then signed a pact for security.
