The Nannatu vault: a treasure trove of exquisite local and international craftsmanship

Hidden from view behind a number of industrial warehouses on the outskirts of the village of Castrignano dei Greci, in the heart of the cultural and linguistic enclave of Grecìa Salentina, lies Federica Covani’s Nannatu studio. This interior designer has chosen to keep a low profile and rely on word-of-mouth to promote her treasure trove of ethnic objects that showcase both local and international craftsmanship. Materials such as raffia, wood, straw and metal, presented in the form of weaves, lozenges and patterns, adorn – alongside iron – baskets, seats, beds, chairs, pouffes and and bags emerge from this textured treasure trove, from which mirrors, picture frames, clothes and fabrics also peek out. The most elegant country estates, and the noble and royal families who have chosen the far south-eastern corner of Italia, opt for Nannatu precisely because of the grace and refinement of the designer Covani.
