In the Sur of the caulkers where Magellan and Marco Polo landed

Heralded by a few azure lagoons and its wooden dhows still used for fishing, the town of Sur inhabited by carpenters and caulkers is a pearl of Oman: even if the nesting season for green turtles has not yet arrived, some can be spotted near the inlet overlooked by the towers protecting the white fishermen's village called Al Ayjah, which can be admired from the waterfront, having a coffee at the tables of the Al Hawash Restaurant or climbing up to Sunaysliah Castle, one of the many fortifications that encircled the port. You can also visit the Boat Museum, watch carpenters at work in the shipyards or enjoy the spectacle of the city from above by ascending the rocky acrocores by taking the path in front of the Al Ayjah Plaza Hotel.
