Industry, Istat: producer prices up 2.4 per cent in July, up 7.8 per cent year-on-year
The National Institute of Statistics: prices on the domestic market have risen by 3 per cent month-on-month and 9.3 per cent year-on-year (up from +6.8 per cent the previous month)
(Il Sole 24 Ore Radiocor) - In July, industrial producer prices rose by 2.4 per cent month-on-month and by 7.8 per cent year-on-year (+5.8 per cent in June).
This is reported by Istat, which adds that on the domestic market, prices rose by 3 per cent month-on-month and 9.3 per cent year-on-year (up from +6.8 per cent the previous month); excluding the energy sector, the price rise is much more moderate on a month-on-month basis (+0.3%) and year-on-year (+3.3%; it was +2.9% in June).
On the foreign market, prices rose by 0.6 per cent month-on-month (+0.2 per cent in the euro area, +0.9 per cent in the non-euro area) and by 3.6 per cent year-on-year (+3.7 per cent in the euro area, +3.5 per cent in the non-euro area).
In the May–July 2026 quarter, compared with the previous quarter, industrial producer prices rose by 2.2 per cent (+2.4 per cent on the domestic market, +1.5 per cent on the export market).
In July, amongst manufacturing activities, the largest year-on-year increases were recorded in coke and refined petroleum products (+54 per cent domestic market, +35.9 per cent non-euro area), chemical products (+9.6 per cent domestic market, +6.8 per cent euro area, +6.6 per cent non-euro area),metallurgy and the manufacture of metal products, excluding machinery and plant (+7.7% domestic market, +7.8% euro area) and other manufacturing industries, repair and installation of machinery and equipment (+6.8% non-euro area).
