Israeli fighter jets are attacking the port of Hodeida controlled by the pro-Iranian Houthi group. The attack is a continuation of last week's Israeli raids that destroyed the international airport in Sanaa, after the Houthis fired a missile that hit the Tel Aviv International Airport area.
Shortly before, the IDF had issued an "urgent" evacuation notice for three Houthi-controlled ports in Yemen in view of possible air strikes. In a post on X, the Arabic-language spokesman had warned those in the ports of Ras Isa, Hodeidah and Salif on the west coast to evacuate.
The Israeli airstrike comes amid growing tension between Israel and the Iranian-backed Houthi rebel group. The operation is a direct response to a drone attack launched by the Houthis on Tel Aviv, which resulted in the death of one person and the wounding of eight.
