Extension of the It-wallet to 14-year-olds without parental consent: new from the Pnrr decree
The amendment to the Pnrr decree allows minors under the age of 14 to use Italia's digital wallet independently, changing the current restrictions on digital identity.
The It-wallet also for minors and without parental authorisation. The Budget Committee of the Chamber of Deputies approved the government's amendment to the Pnrr decree, which has now become an omnibus text with many small measures. Among them, precisely, the one on the It-wallet, which intervenes in the Digital Administration Code.
The approved amendment
"Minors who have reached the age of fourteen," the text reads, "are allowed to access and use the telematic access point, also for the purpose of obtaining and displaying certificates, titles or authorisations having legal effects, including those made available through the Italia Digital Wallet System (IT-Wallet System)".
Until now, as stated on AppIo, in order to use the digital wallet 'you must be of legal age', as well as 'have a Spid or Cie (Electronic Identity Card) digital identity'.
"Without parental consent"
The extension to 14-year-olds will be possible "without the need for the consent of the exercising parental responsibility, except in cases where the law expressly requires the intervention or authorisation of the exercising parental responsibility for obtaining specific certificates, titles or authorisations or for the use of specific services".
All documents are coming
The digital wallet currently allows driving licence, health card and disability card to be stored in it (with legal value), but within a year - as decided in a February decree - the entire public administration will have to adapt.
