Italy's light nuclear, boilers in homes in three years
Prometheus: home heating devices ready in three years and dual-use applications for transport in five

"If I had to make a prediction, in the light of everything that has been done and certified to date, I would say that there is at least a 70% chance that the industrial application of Prometheus technology will be achieved'. Speaking so directly is one of the most authoritative experts on atomic energy in Italia, Fabio Pistella, former president of the Cnr and director general of Enea, Italy's nuclear agency.
The occasion is the inauguration of the four-day event (23-26 March 2026) dedicated to the Third Way of Nuclear Power, promoted at the Kilometro Rosso in Bergamo by Prometheus, the start-up that has certified and patented the nuclear technology capable of obtaining a positive energy balance of 1.5 of thermal energy, plus pressure and hydrogen from a reaction between water, salt and electricity. Without harmful emissions and without leaving any waste.
Last October, after six months of technical tests, the Austrian company Avl, specialised in measurement and testing, certified the results and validated the three elements that make an experiment take the leap towards industrialisation: repeatability, reproducibility and scalability.
"This news," said the director of ENEA's nuclear department Alessandro Dodaro, "convinced us to sign a programme agreement with Prometheus to make our knowledge and facilities available to the project.
Fabrizio Petrucci, CEO of Prometheus (controlled by the Ground Control fund and owned by the Bombassei and Borromeo families), the only company heard at the European Economic and Social Council as part of the debate on energy autonomy, gave a timetable of operations to come: "Prometheus technologies dedicated to heat production," he told Brussels, "are already ready for the pre-industrial phase and can be available in our homes within the next three years. dual-use applications for the propulsion of our vehicles, both civil and military, can be ready in five years'.
Prometheus is born in 2021
In fact, Prometheus was born in 2021 with the aim of producing industrial applications within the framework of a tnuclear technology much debated by the academy: the Lenr (Low energy nuclear reaction). Simplifying to the limits of trivialisation, this is a nuclear reaction that is the result of neither fusion nor fission, but which demonstrates visible and measured efficiency. The academy has been questioning the theory, how and why the production of electrical and mechanical energy and hydrogen takes place for years.
