Several photo agencies, including Reuters and Associated Press, have withdrawn from circulation the photo of princess Kate released on Sunday morning for fear that it has been "manipulated". This was reported by Sky News, recalling that the one published by Kensington Palace is the first official picture of the Princess of Wales since her abdominal surgery in January, circulated on Mother's Day in the UK. The photo shows Catherine sitting in a chair surrounded by her three children. But "On closer inspection," Ap writes, "it appears that the source has manipulated the image in a way that does not meet Ap's photographic standards."
Why the photo looks altered
.A spokesman for the American news agency told the Telegraph: 'The photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte's left hand'. A hypothesis also confirmed by Reuters. Hence, the suspicion that the image had been altered. Reuters said it could not immediately determine how, why or by whom the alteration had been made. Meanwhile, the AFP urged people to delete the photograph: 'Please remove it immediately from all your online services, stop using it in any other way and delete it from your servers'.
Conspiracy Theories
.Kate Middleton is now at the centre of several conspiracy theories, especially since she has been out of the spotlight recovering from her abdominal operation. The 'incriminating' photo was posted on the Prince and Princess of Wales' social media accounts on Sunday morning, along with a thank you message: 'Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the past two months. And then: "I wish everyone a happy Mother's Day. C." According to Kensington Palace, the image was taken at Windsor earlier this week by Prince William himself.
The details of the princess's condition have not yet been revealed, but from London came an immediate reassurance: Cathrine does not have cancer, she simply wishes her medical information to remain private.
The Apology on X
Throwing some water on the fire was the Princess of Wales herself: 'Like many amateur photographers, I try my hand at editing from time to time. I wanted to express my apologies for the confusion caused by the family photo we shared yesterday. I hope all the celebrants had a happy Mother's Day. C.,' she wrote on her X profile.
