'Artificial intelligence is the new frontier in video games and laptops are the future'
Volker During, VP & GM of Lenovo's PC Gaming Business, speaks
The gaming sector is among those that have benefited most from the technological acceleration of recent years. Lenovo is one of the brands that has best interpreted this transformation, continuing to push innovation with increasingly refined and efficient solutions. The opportunity to take a closer look at the group's vision came at Innovation World in Berlin, where the brand's latest innovations were unveiled.
The star of the show is the new Legion Go Gen 2, a second generation portable console designed as part of an ecosystem integrating PC, cloud and artificial intelligence. A modular device, capable of adapting to different needs and gaming styles, it embodies Lenovo's strategy: to offer gamers freedom of choice and continuity between platforms. Speaking about this vision is Volker During, VP & GM of Lenovo's PC Gaming Business, who points out how the convergence of AI, cloud and traditional hardware is already reshaping the future of gaming.
AI: the disruptive technology of the next decade
The mantra of AI as a catalyst for change does not spare gaming. 'AI is already a major player in the gaming industry on several fronts,' the manager explains. From game development, where it automates repetitive processes freeing up time and resources to focus on content creation and game optimisation, to the hardware side, with AI now being used in frame generation, significantly increasing framerates and enhancing the gaming experience in both competitive FPS titles and narrative games.
But AI is also a tool to enrich the player experience. "Legion Space integrates AI-enhanced tools such as Game Clip Master, which uses generative AI to turn hours of gameplay into short, customisable content for social, and Game Companion, an avatar that reacts to gameplay by offering real-time support."
An interaction between gamers and AI that, During points out, is only in its infancy: 'I am convinced that we will see even deeper transformations in the coming years,' During adds, hinting that AI will increasingly become a companion in games, not just an assistant.
