Minister Roccella’s husband missing in Lake Vico: they were out on a boat together
In the village of Fiorò, the Carabinieri, the fire brigade and 118 emergency services personnel have attended the scene. Diving teams from the Carabinieri and the fire brigade are on their way.
At around 5.30 pm today, the Minister for Family Affairs, Eugenia Roccella, raised the alarm at Lake Vico, in the Viterbo area: her husband, Luigi Cavallari, had dived from the boat they were on together and had not resurfaced.
Carabinieri from the Ronciglione station and firefighters from the caving, mountaineering and river rescue unit of the Viterbo fire brigade rushed to the scene. The first divers were lowered directly from the helicopter that had arrived from the capital. The minister was accompanied to their home in the Viterbo area.
The search continues. A Carabinieri helicopter is flying over the lake, whilst diving teams from the Carabinieri and the fire service are expected to arrive. Operations are being coordinated by the deputy prefect of Viterbo, Andrea Nino Caputo. Also present are the provincial commander of the Carabinieri, Alfredo Antro, and the chief of police, Giorgio Di Munno.
