A Chinese electric car sold at a Stellantis dealership? Science fiction until over a year ago, when in October 2023 the agreement between the group led by Carlos Tavares and the Chinese company was announced: 1.5 billion for 20% of Stellantis. According to Tavares, the first Leapmotor products would be seen in Europe within two years, but in reality the arrival is imminent. In fact, the first batch of vehicles under the Leapmotor International brand, the name of the joint venture (in which Stellantis holds 51%) ready to market the electric C10 SUV and the zero-emission T03 compact car in nine European countries, has set sail from China.

.On sale since September, the two Chinese electric models will be marketed in 200 sales outlets in Europe by the end of 2024. In addition to sales in the Old Continent, marketing will be extended to the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific and South America by the end of the year. As announced by Stellantis, by 2026 Leapmotor-branded cars will be able to rely on a network of no less than 500 sales outlets where at least five different models will be sold. In fact, over the next three years, at least one model per year is expected to be sold.
